Not all the fun is happening on the slopes at Bridger Bowl this ski season. Live music with the area’s best local bands is offered most Saturdays throughout the season during lunch hours (usually 3:30-6), typically at the Jim Bridger Lodge.
Many local breweries will also be on hand during the afternoon entertainment with dicounted pints and swag giveaways. Here’s a look at what’s kicking off the New Year right. Ashly Holland will return for a solo set Friday, January 15th to help celebrate Bridger’s 61st Birthday at the Deer Park Chalet. Ashly Jane Holland possesses a vocal quality that is uniquely her own, you can’t exactly pin who she may sound like, all you know is you can’t get enough of that voice. It can be smoky, sweet, warm, and inviting, it can take from the highest highs to the lowest lows. The emotion in the voice can only come from someone that has lived through those experiences…as Holland has. Montucky Cold Snacks will bring the beer and swag during the festivities.
Valley Rebels will be on hand for musical entertainment on Saturday the 16th. Bridger Brewing will bring the beer promo during this Community Race Series. Scott Nelson is set to perform on Friday the 22nd for MSU Ski Day at the Deer Park Chalet with an afternoon of Blues, R&B, Reggae and extended jams. The acoustic blues guitarist’s soulful voice is reminiscent of Boz Scaggs and Lowell George with occasional flashes of Willie Nelson. Lone Peak Brewery will also be present. Bridger Creek Boys will take over the mic on Saturday the 23rd during yet another edition of the Community Race Series. Veterans of the MT Bluegrass scene, the Boys have ten years and well over a thousand shows of experience, and will stun you with their picking. White Dog will bring the beer and (some) of the fun! Unusual Suspects will close out the month on Saturday the 30th during the Randonnee Rally. Unusual Suspects is a signature Cure for the Common, “Sammy,” or live improvised jam. The term ‘Sammy’ is supposedly derived from “Shark Sammy,” the name of the band’s mysterious and elusive improv electro side project. Draught Works will be on hand with tasty beer promo.
